Varios miembros del Comité Científico de la AESAN están entre los investigadores más valorados en seguridad alimentaria del ranking Expertscape que valora la cantidad y calidad de más de 30.000 publicaciones realizadas en los últimos diez años por cerca de 54.000 expertos en este campo. 

El Dr. David Rodríguez Lázaro, Vicepresidente del Comité Científico de AESAN y profesor de la Universidad de Burgos, ha ocupado el puesto 27 a nivel mundial y el segundo a nivel nacional en la disciplina de Seguridad alimentaria, que encabeza el Dr. José Luis Domingo de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Además del Dr. Rodríguez Lázaro, entre los 25 científicos españoles con mayor puntuación en seguridad alimentaria a nivel nacional se encuentran otros tres miembros del Comité Científico de la AESAN, los doctores Jordi Mañes y Maria José Ruiz catedráticos de la Universitat de València y la doctora Sonia Marín catedrática de la Universitat de Lleida. Los doctores Vicente Sanchis, Guillermina Font y Cristina Nerín, exmiembros del Comité, también figuran dentro de los 25 primeros puestos.

Los informes del Comité Científico sobre prospección de peligros químicos y biológicos de interés en seguridad alimentaria en España han sido presentados por los doctores Ángeles Jos y Jesús Santos, respectivamente, en las Jornadas de Referencia de Análisis de Alimentos celebradas en el Centro Nacional de Alimentación de la AESAN. El CNA es Laboratorio Nacional de Referencia para diversos peligros químicos y biológicos y celebra este año el 45º aniversario de su creación.

Dr. Magdalena Rafecas, member of the Scientific Committee of AESAN, has obtained a position of Professor at the Barcelona University within the knowledge Area of ​​ Nutrition and Bromatology.

The new Scientific Committee of AESAN has been constituted. The meeting was held at the AESAN headquarters in Madrid and Dr. Montaña Cámara Hurtado, from the Complutense University of Madrid, was elected as Chair of the Scientific Committee and Dr. David Rodríguez Lázaro from the University of Burgos, as Vice President. To the call for the renewal of the Scientific Committee 74 candidatures were presented.

Dr. Carmen Rubio, member of the Scientific Committee of AESAN and Professor of the University of La Laguna, has been appointment as vocal of the Executive Committee of the Hispanic Organization of Toxicologists, a group of special interest within the Society of Toxicology of the United States (SOT). Its main objective is to support the SOT and provide a forum for the awareness and dissemination of toxicological information related to the Hispanic community inside and outside the United States.

Volume 28 of the Journal of the Scientific Committee of the AECOSAN has been published. In addition to the latest reports approved by the Food Safety and Nutrition Section, it includes one external collaboration.

The research group on microbiology of the Burgos University in which Dr. David Rodríguez Lázaro participates, in collaboration with the Microbiology Service of the Valladolid Rio Hortega University Hospital, and the Molecular Biology and Microbiology Laboratory of the Instituto Tecnológico Agrario de Castilla y León (ITACyL) have characterized the microbial populations present in the intestine of patients with chronic diarrhea in the hospital environment..

The Food Security and Nutrition Section of the Scientific Committee of AESAN has held a meeting in Murcia. The Executive Director of AESAN, the Rector of the Murcia University and the General Director of Murcia Public Health and Addictions, have opened the session and have highlighted and appreciated the evaluation work of the members of the Committee.

The call for applications to be part of the Food Security and Nutrition Section of the Scientific Committee of AESAN has been published. The selection criteria are based on the excellence and suitability of the candidates for the required functions, as well as on their independence and objective availability for the proper performance of their duties. The deadline for submitting applications will end on 10 December, 2018.

The 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Scientific Committee of the AESAN was celebrated with an act in which the presidents of the Committee took part: Andreu Palou (2003-2010), Rosaura Farré (2011-2012), Emilio, Martínez de Victoria (2013-2014), Guillermina Font (2015-2016) and Gaspar Ros (2017-2018).

The Regional Government of Catalonia has awarded the Narcís Monturiol Medal to Dr Olga Martín, member of the Food Safety and Nutrition Section of the AECOSAN Scientific Committee and professor at the University of Lleida, in recognition of her contribution to the development of science and technology.


12 September 2018

A session of the Food Safety and Nutrition Section of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition (AECOSAN) has been held. The meeting discusses different reports on questions of interest in food safety and nutrition. The Executive Director of the AECOSAN, Mrs Marta García opened the session, thanking the Section for its work and highlighting the importance of risk assessment as a basis for decision-making. In turn, the President of the Section, Mr Gaspar Ros gave thanks for the support received from the Agency to the Scientific Committee.

The microbiology research group from the University of Burgos in which Dr David Rodríguez Lázaro is member, has received the third prize for the best oral paper of the 26th Congress of the International Committee on Food Microbiology and Hygiene (ICFMH). The paper described the biocomputer software “TORMES” for the analysis of the bacterial genome developed at the University of Burgos.

Dr Mª José Ruiz, member of the Food Safety and Nutrition Section of the Scientific Committee of the AECOSAN, has been appointed as professor at the University of Valencia in the Area of Toxicology.

The risk assessment activities and the operation of the Food Safety and Nutrition Section of the Scientific Committee of the AECOSAN, were presented at the Reference Conferences on Food Analysis held at the National Food Centre of the AECOSAN in Majadahonda.

The Food Safety and Nutrition Section of the Scientific Committee met in a plenary session. During the meeting, ten reports were discussed. Three of these were approved and will be published shortly in the Journal of the Scientific Committee of the AECOSAN.
